“We were tasked by our valued client to work closely with the structural engineers on this project. The roof structures on multiple properties had succumbed to the elements and age, causing irreparable damage to the timber rafters and associated flat roofs. Each roof has posed its own set of challenges being in a conservation area, we have installed steelworks and built ashlar walls, we have utilised existing purlins and strengthened with timber supports and in some cases, we have completely rebuilt the roof structures. Along with this, we have increased ventilation to the loft areas by using a mixture of ventilated soffits, dry ridge systems and vented tiles. This project has been rewarding and like many projects, a good learning process for all involved,” said Grant Jenner, Project Manager of NXTGEN Futures.
